Beanie Babies started producing in 1993 and went into full production in 1994. They had no real popularity till the second half of 1995. In 1996 “Miniature Beanies were released with McDonald’s Happy Meals. Everyone even mommy and daddy had them. Their popularity reached the point that even immigrants within the U.S. were peddling Beanie Babies at swap meets. At the beginning of the fad they were being offered for 10 x what we were holding purchased for at stores.
Beanie Babies from 1996 to 1999 were being purchased by collectors for resale and it got a chance to the point where these folks were no longer an important commodity to create a good return with an investment in them. By December 31st 1999 Ty were forced to shut down their production as a result of over-saturation of these on the second-hand market. Nobody wanted them anymore. At the height on the their popularity 10% of eBay sales were, “Beanie Babies”.
Jan. 2nd 2000 Ty roared to life production of Beanie Babies again couple of days after they stopped production. Some the restart was as a result of demand and others the restart was as a result of an economic strategy by Ty. I can say safely that the used market was flooded with Beanie Babies to the issue they couldn’t be provided with away, “not even though you begged people to take them”. Ty restarting production Jan. 2nd of 2000, 48 hrs after they ceased production what food was in limited quantities so people can’t put them available for sale the same day they purchased them and saturate the used market concise of value collapse.

Beanie Baby Cards didn’t appear until November 1998 and were dead on arrival until early 1999 if it was announced which the cards were being retired. After they were retired the remainder inventory of those sold out quickly. After the announcement of these being retired which brought about a quick sellout Ty released the series 2 cards in March of 1999.
Beanie Babies Cards edition 1 Series 1 had 504,000 boxes produced at their beginning Nov. 1998 as well as the cards weren’t that great looking. In July of 1999 the second edition series 3 cards were released. 751,332 boxes were released. The graphics were updated and much more pleasing to your eye. This compilation of cards is very pleasing towards the eye and many likely is a more desirable card towards the average collector. If you’re looking at design quality the other edition series 3 cards are in places you want to be. The backgrounds usually are not so blurred out and also the text is 3D outlined. Series 1 and two are a great disappointment as towards the design technology being manufactured in sports and comic strip cards in the wife or husband of the 1990’s.
November of 1999 saw the final release of Beanie Baby trading cards. The 2nd edition series 4 released 620,000 boxes of cards into your public. These cards continued with a similar design quality as the other edition series 3 cards. As stated above in December 1999 Ty announced the end in the Beanie Baby dolls and knowning that came the end on the cards too. Even though Ty did produce limited quantities of Beanie Babies in Jan. of 2000 them to this day haven’t came back.

If I needed to speculate within this I would say prepaid cards will some day come close towards the popularity the dolls have. Will it occur in my life time? As for anything collectible this question are not answered. Popularity can be something that happens throughout the thought of every individual person multiplied into many. The only realistic thought that could be formulated is dependant on past collectible pieces of popularity which may have gained today’s popularity understanding that a day inside the future will recognize these trading cards being a picture of the past popular item that will bring value for the cards if they’re recognized.
